With the average person spending about 40 minutes a day cleaning their home, finding ways to clean faster means having more time to do other things. The good news is that if you follow a few tips and tricks, you can not only clean faster, but prevent some cleaning issues from occurring. We spoke to Mark, the owner over at Maid Prime, an amazing cleaning company in Portland, and he was generous enough to share his list of tips and tricks that will have you spending less time cleaning and more time doing what you want.
Vinegar is an excellent cleaning agent, able to remove water stains and destroy bacteria. For your glasses, a little vinegar mixed with water will remove the water stains and leave your glasses bright and shiny. Pour a little into your coffee makes and it will clean the inside while removing bacteria.
Use normal loads in the dishwasher
This may sound counterintuitive, but when you overload the dishwasher, you will have more dirty dishes that you may have to clean by hand. So, load the dishwasher normally and wash the excess dishes and silverware in the sink. This means that everything will be clean instead of having to re-wash the entire load again.
Use wax paper on your sink
The sink is one of the dirtiest places in the home. Even normal cleaning methods are usually not enough to make the sink look bright and clean. After you use an antibacterial cleanser, wipe the faucet and tap handles with wax paper. It will remove the water spots and the wax left behind will help prevent new stains from forming. This makes future cleaning sessions shorter thanks to the wax paper.
Grapefruit & Salt
The bathtub is often one of the most difficult surfaces to clean. You have to balance between using a cleaning item strong enough to remove the stains, but soft enough to not damage or scratch the porcelain underneath. A half-grapefruit with salt added will do just the trick. By sprinkling salt into the grapefruit and rubbing it on the surface, it will lift the stains quickly while not damaging the porcelain. The citric acid in the grapefruit will help break down the stains as well.
Dryer sheet on baseboards
The baseboards in your home can become quite dusty but getting on your hands and knees is not inviting at all. Instead, put a dryer sheet on a Swiffer and you can clean the baseboards in no time. Plus, the dryer sheet will leave a pleasing scent in your home.
Vent cleaning with turtle wax
The vents in your home accumulate plenty of dust and debris especially when your air conditioner or heater is in use. By applying Turtle Wax to the vents, the dust becomes significantly easier to clean away. This is because the wax makes it more difficult for the dust and debris to stick.
These are just a few of the many tips and tricks which can clean your home quickly. By using them regularly, you can save a considerable amount of time that can be spent doing what you want.
